ABOUT GETTING STARTED

Here are some of the common questions we are asked by people who are considering the possibility of becoming a client of Nancy McCaughey Coaching.  Take a look through these, and if you have further questions or would like for a complimentary consultation in person, please call or email us for an appointment.

What are the next steps?

Because individual coaching is a personal investment and has important implications, it requires a strong connection and felt trust between the Coach and Client.  We believe it’s extremely important for both of us to have an opportunity to have a one-hour, complimentary and no obligation meeting in person (if possible) to determine if there is a fit before making a financial commitment and investing the time that a successful coaching relationship requires.  When you decide to work with Nancy McCaughey Coaching, you will receive a Client Agreement outlining the intent, responsibilities, and description of the coaching program and fees, a Client Career & Life Inventory and an online Myers-Briggs personality assessment to complete before your first session.

How much coaching will I need?

Each of our coaching engagements are highly customized to the personal needs and goals of the client. We've learned to successfully assess, visualize, and develop a strategic roadmap to create an authentically aligned new career chapter, requires a minimum 12-hour commitment over two to three months.  TDepending on your goals, extent of your transition and desired level of support to successfully achieve your goals, your engagement may realistically require more time. All engagements may be extended in four-hour blocks. Most major transitions to new careers are completed in 6-9 months. Take a look at the three levels of Coaching Engagements above to learn more about the one that is right for you!

How often will we meet?

Coaching sessions are typically conducted in-person for 90 minutes to two hours in length and occur on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Office coaching sessions are scheduled Monday – Friday (9 am – 5 pm.)  For out-of-state or international clients, coaching sessions can alternatively be conducted via phone, or video calls using Skype or Facetime technology. Scheduling two or three coaching sessions in advance is recommended to give you the best chance of getting a time that works best for you.

How do I get the most out of my coaching engagement?

Beyond the work we do in our sessions, you will be given assignments, practices, and readings to complete to put your insights and learning into action.  For questions or issues that arise between meetings, brief emails and phone calls are provided for no additional charge.  Candid feedback during the coaching engagement is invited and welcomed so we can be sure you are experiencing an optimal learning experience that supports your goals.
